Fire safety is a universal concern amongst most industries throughout the world so it’s very important that employers train their workers about the various fire hazards within their workplace and what measures should be taken in the event a fire emergency happens. Fire safety awareness and prevention is everyone’s responsibility and should be part of all employee’s day-to-day job duties. Many companies use fire Safety banners to improve employee communication about fire safety.
There should be a clear and concise fire safety plan that outlines the steps to take if a fire happens plus fire evacuation procedures and fire safety warnings to help prevent fires altogether. Fire safety banners, fire safety posters, fire safety wall decals and fire safety floor stickers are an ideal way to showcase these warnings and prevention methods throughout your facility.
Fire safety awareness starts with you as the employer. Start by equipping your facility with items such as fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. These should be checked on a regular basis so that they always remain in proper working condition. Make sure the fire safety equipment is clearly labeled and noted throughout the building by utilizing fire safety posters and fire safety wall decals. These can be enlarged and made clearly visible for everyone to see. Ample fire safety signage allows for quicker response times in the event of a fire.
Unfortunately, accidents do happen from time to time, so creating an evacuation plan is one of the most important elements in preparing your employees for industrial fire safety. It is crucial that a plan is in place should the worst occur. Once you have your fire evacuation plan in place, it’s imperative that all workers are aware of your fire evacuation plan and it’s even more helpful if you assign or hire an employee to act as your company’s safety officer to oversee and keep your fire safety measures up to date.
Once the fire evacuation plan and training are implemented throughout your company, the most effective way for fire safety to stay forefront in the mind of your employees is through visual reminders displayed throughout your facility. Again, this is where fire safety banners, fire safety posters, fire safety wall decals and fire safety floor stickers with not only words, but images depicting fire safety warnings and instructions can be a daily reminder to practice fire safety. This can often be the “life saver” your company needs should an emergency arise.

PPE - Personal Protection Equipment - for the workplace is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses. These injuries and illnesses may result from contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards. Personal protective equipment may include items such as gloves, safety glasses and shoes, earplugs or muffs, hard hats, respirators, or coveralls, vests and full body suits.
All personal protective equipment should be safely designed and constructed, and should be maintained in a clean and reliable fashion. It should fit comfortably, encouraging worker use. If the personal protective equipment does not fit properly, it can make the difference between being safely covered or dangerously exposed. When engineering, work practice, and administrative controls are not feasible or do not provide sufficient protection, employers must provide personal protective equipment to their workers and ensure its proper use. Employers are also required to train each worker required to use personal protective equipment to know:
If PPE is to be used, a PPE program should be implemented. This program should address the hazards present; the selection, maintenance, and use of PPE; the training of employees; and monitoring of the program to ensure its ongoing effectiveness.
